Stats for the Internet in 2010

A company called Pingdom has realeased some very impressive statistics for the state of the internet in 2010.  It is worth checking out all of the stats given in the previous link but here are some of the highlights that I found most interesting.

  • 107 Trillion emails were sent in 2010, 89.1% of which was spam.
  • There were 255 million websites in 2010, 21.4 million of those were created in 2010
  • There were 88.8 million .COM domain names at the end of 2010.
  • Asia has the most internet users with 825.1 million users
  • 152 million blogs on the  internet in 2010.
  • 25 billion tweets were sent in 2010
  • 70% of Facebook users are outside the US
  • 2 billion YouTube videos are watched EVERY DAY!
  • Flickr hosts over 5 billion photos while Facebook grows by 3 billion photos every month
