There is a reason that Comcast / Xfinity is considered by most of its customers (or former customers) as one of the worst companies in America with some of the worst customer service and I bring you a perfect example to prove why they are so horrible. In this case, they lie and enthusiastically offer a lower price after a customer experiences sticker shock over a new bill, only to say that was actually cheaper than they meant and then tried to attach multiple strings to the offer including tying the customers bank account to them.
Having unfortunately been one of their customers basically my entire life, I know all too well how dishonest they can be and how much of a battle it is to deal with any sort of billing issue. Between outsourced customer support that barely speaks English to their over use of canned responses to straight up lies like we have here, I really don’t have a single nice thing to say about Comcast / Xfinity customer support or the company in general. And while I could go on a rant about how much it sucks that they have a monopoly where I live, I will save that for another day and get on with this post.
I’ve redacted the name in the screenshot below for privacy purposes but they were having a DM exchange with Xfinity’s X (Twitter) support after finding a surprise jump in their internet bill from $62/mo to $76/mo. Certainly not a small jump!
They had first tried to reach out to chat support on the Xfinity app only to repeatedly receive the message that they were to busy to answer that they should either call in or try back later. So, knowing they also offer support via X (Twitter), they decided to try that instead of enduring hold music to likely end up talking to someone they can’t even understand.
At first things seemed to be going well and Xfinity Support enthusiastically offered to drop the bill not just back down to where it was but down to $45/mo! That definitely sounds like a deal worth jumping on to me! However, Xfinity, being the lying crooks that they are, immediately backtracked and said they meant to actually say $55 and to get that price, they had to switch to paperless billing and tie their bank account to Xfinity / Comcast for automatic payments. I don’t know about you, but I certainly wouldn’t trust dishonest people with my banking information!
Further into the conversation with their deceptive customer support, they had asked to speak to a supervisor only to be told it wasn’t possible and to do so they would need to call in to their hotline however when they called, it was closed so they couldn’t talk to anybody. Isn’t that just Comcastic?! Seems more like Craptastic to me!
Anyway, read Xfinity’s dishonesty and deception for yourself in this screenshot…
