Its not uncommon for people to do all sorts of geeky carvings when its Halloween time and pumpkins are plentiful and perfect for carving, but what do you do when you are a gamer with an itch to carve something cool but its not pumpkin season yet?  Apparently one gamer decided to celebrate summer (I’m just assuming since you can really get watermelon anytime of year these days) by carving a Chain Chomp watermelon!

I have no idea who the Super Mario fan was that created this epic Chain Chomp watermelon but I think they did a pretty great job with it!  It has me craving both watermelon (which I actually have 4 of sitting in my living room) and to play some Super Mario 64.

This feels like the perfect thing to have at a gaming themed party in the summer.  Especially if its a Super Mario themed party.  This brings all new meaning to playing with your food!

I’d put this watermelon carving right up there with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles watermelon carvings I shared years ago.  It makes me think that this carving might look even more scary if it had some cool lighting effects like those TMNT carvings.  I think that would really be cool!  Maybe I should do that with one of the ones I have sitting in my floor…
