It might surprise you to know that even though I blog about all sorts of amazing, geeky things that people have built or sell, I’m not one to do much collecting of geeky things myself. I have quite a few geeky clothing items, A Zelda wallet, a Zelda poster, and a Super Mario clock that my fiance got me and that’s really about it. However, I can now say that I am the proud owner of a badass lightsaber!
I recently wrote about my hands on experience with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor that EA flew me out to LA for and as part of the gift box for those that got to attend, they gave everyone a lightsaber hilt. And not one of those cheap $30 plastic ones you get from the toy store. I’m talking a big, heavy, metal, fancy one like the expensive ones you can build at the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge park in Disneyland.
However, it didn’t come with the blade part, just the hilt, so I had to order that myself which came in last night. As soon as it showed up up, I ripped open the box, attached it to the lightsaber hilt and did my best Jedi impression so that it would make all the cool sounds and show off its lighting effects.
I can’t say I have a ton of interest in collecting things but I’m definitely proud of this lightsaber and I’m trying to figure out how to display it. I’m thinking of hanging it from the wall next to my desk but I haven’t decided for sure yet.
If this is what the actors have to work with, I have an all new respect for the things they have to do with them because this thing is HEAVY! And that is even without the blade that weights almost nothing.
This leads me to the question of this post. Do you have any geeky collections? What do you collect? Let me know in the comments below!
