On Friday’s post about the father and son that created an arcade in their basement, I mentioned that it has been a dream of mine for a while to turn my basement into an arcade. Well, while I may not have the funds to do something like that, I could probably afford to build an arcade cabinet like the one below but I don’t know if I could make something look quite as cool.
Reddit user mystery_smelly_feet built this awesome Nintendo themed arcade cabinet. It took him two months (mostly working on weekends) and around $2,000 to build but I’d say it was worth it. As far as the specs go for the PC that powers this cool Nintendo arcade cabinet, it uses a 3.2 GHz Intel i5 processor, 16 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 660, and a 2 TB HDD. A pretty good gaming rig even if it wasn’t in an arcade cabinet! And of course the games themselves run on various emulators.
This has me thinking that when I retire the gaming computer I use now, I might use it to power an arcade cabinet. Thanks to mystery_smelly_feet, I have an idea of how to build one now because you can find more pictures including pictures of its construction at the source link below.
