After just a couple of hours of work, a man by the name of Matt Bettcher took the SharpNES open source NES emulator and ported it to Windows Phone 7. As you can see in the video below, it seems to run good but a little slow although Bettcher is optimistic that optimizations can be made to make things run like they should. Without optimizations, he says it currently runs between 10-20 fps on the Samsung Focus. The bad news? Microsoft says there is no way they will let it on the WP7 Marketplace. Even Apple caved and now lets emulators in the App Store after people demanded them. Bettcher is hoping to get enough community support to get Microsoft to change his mind. He has my full support!
