One of the original 200 Apple I computers was sold at the famous Christies in London today.  The piece of computer history was sold for $210,000.   It included the original packaging and a signed letter from Steve Jobs.  Steve Wozniak was on hand and said he would also contribute a signed letter to the auction.  Whoever purchased the machine for $666.66 back in 1976 made a heck of an investment with this piece of Apple history.

This auction had a number of historical pieces up for auction including the nearly complete papers of Alan Turing and an Enigma Machine.  The Turing papers unfortunately did not sell as they didn’t meet the minimum bid despite the fact that Google put up $100,000 to help somebody win the papers that was interested in keeping them at Bletchly Park where Turing did much of his work.

Congrats to whoever purchased the Apple I as you now have a computer that is 1000x less powerful than an iPad.
