Archives For Science Fiction

For quite a few years now, when I have needed to take things somewhere like my laptop, I have always used a backpack that I received from Microsoft back when I was one of their Student Insiders.  Well, its just about shot these days with the straps ready to rip off at any time so I have been considering my options for a new bag to carry my laptop and other stuff in.  I have a messenger bag that I can get by with but it just isn’t very cool.  So until now, I had been leaning toward the Star Trek: The Next Generation messenger bags I posted about a while back although after today, now I am seriously considering this amazing Darth Vader briefcase!

The super geeky people over at ThinkGeek have recently come out with this amazing and officially licensed Star Wars Darth Vader briefcase that they are selling for just $99.99.  Not only does it feature Darth Vader’s helmet on the front and the Star Wars logo on the shoulder pad but it features a removable and adjustable strap as well as a handle that looks like Darth Vader’s lightsaber!  Oh, and it comes in Darth Vader colors too!

I suggest hitting the link above or in the source below to get all the dimensions and features and everything to find out if it will work for you but I suspect it will unless you have some giant laptop.

This bag is sure to make you the envy of the office at the next meeting and you can thank the Dark Side!

Death Star Waffle Maker

Jeremy Bray —  February 1, 2016 — Leave a comment

While I do love waffles, when given the choice between waffles or pancakes, I am more of a pancakes guy, especially when you start talking about the various kinds of pancakes like pumpkin pancakes or New York cheesecake pancakes.  However, I might be more tempted to eat waffles if the waffles that were offered to me happened to be these amazing Star Wars Death Star waffles!  After all, nothing says ‘eat me, I’m tasty!’ quite like the Dark Side.

For the Star Wars loving waffle eaters out there, today is your lucky day because you can make your own Death Star waffles with this Death Star waffle maker!  The awesome folks over at ThinkGeek are selling this Star Wars Death Star waffle maker for $39.99!  This waffle maker makes Death Star waffles that are 7″ in diameter and uses non-stick cooking plates so things aren’t too messy.

If you want to check out this Death Star waffle maker in action, you can give the short video below a watch but I should warn you, it WILL make you hungry for waffles.

And now I’m off to IHOP for waffles because I didn’t eat breakfast and I made the mistake of watching that video.

Its not very often I get hungry in the morning that I wish I had breakfast but today is one of those days where I wish I had something to eat before work, especially after seeing these beautiful looking Star Wars cookies!

In the past I’ve posted a ton of amazing Star Wars cookies like the stunning hand-painted Star Wars cookies and some cute R2-D2 cookies, and now we can add these amazing Star Wars cookies to the group!

These fantastic frosted Star Wars sugar cookies were created by Treats by Trish.  The cookie include a couple of Star Wars logo cookies, a couple of R2-D2 cookies, a couple of Rogue Squadron cookies and a couple of cookies with Darth Vader holding his lightsaber.

I find the level of detail and how clean they all look to be really impressive!  I wish I had the skills to make something like this but the best I can do is to put some sprinkles on cookies that I cut out with a cookie cutter.

If you have made any geeky cookies like these that you think we would like to see, make sure to use the contact us link above to send them to us!

It doesn’t happen as often as it used to but once in a while one of the wonderful readers of Global Geek News sends in pictures of some amazing geeky creation they built and it is always the highlight of my day.  Not only does it make my job of finding something worth posting a million times easier but I also get a thrill of seeing something great before it gets picked up by everywhere else on the internet.  Speaking of awesome builds that someone was nice enough to pass along to us, on Sunday I got an e-mail about an amazing Dalek wood burner that I knew I just had to share!

Owen James the owner of Maven Industries sent along these incredible pictures of the Dalek wood burner they built while they were between jobs (normally they fabricate hot rods and choppers).

I’d say they did a pretty amazing job and the attention to detail is very impressive!  I wish I had this Dalek wood stove or wood burner or whatever you want to call it in my backyard to help keep me warm on the cold nights I am outside with my telescope.

A huge thanks to Owen for sending this in!  Keep up the great work!

The works of art that people create in the latte never ceases to amaze me which is why I have posted so much of it over the years!  When it comes to Star Wars latte art specifically, I have posted some great ones in the past like this Death Star latte art and this awesome Stormtrooper latte art.  However, the Star Wars themed latte art below blows them all out of the cup.

Japanese pancake and latte artist @Belcorno (Even if you don’t speak Japanese, follow him if you love latte art, especially anime latte art) recently tweeted some of his incredible Star Wars latte art creations to celebrate the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie.  I have to say, I have posted some pretty cool latte art in the past but this is by far my favorite.  This is truly a mind blowing Star Wars latte art collection!

If you aren’t impressed with this collection of Star Wars latte art, there is seriously something wrong with you!

I wish I could make something really cool like this but I neither like lattes or have any artistic skill so I guess I will just have to enjoy seeing the latte art that other people create.

I suspect that some of you are probably getting burned out on everything Star Wars since it seems to have taken over everything for the past few weeks, but I’m not quite done sharing amazing Star Wars things yet so I’ll probably be posting more Star Wars stuff for a few more days.  Speaking of amazing Star Wars stuff, I stumbled across this gingerbread Darth Vader while browsing Facebook and was so impressed with it I knew I had to share it with the rest of you.

This incredible Darth Vader gingerbread sculpture was created by Caroline Eriksson.  It took her three weeks to build and apparently caused the fire alarm to go off three times.  I’d say that was three weeks worth of effort well spent!

If you want to see some other great Star Wars gingerbread creations (not as epic as this), go check out some of the ones I have posted in the past like the gingerbread AT-AT, the gingerbread Millennium Falcon or the gingerbread Death Star.
