I typically get strange looks when I tell people that should I ever get married, I want a Klingon wedding rather than a traditional wedding but after seeing this Stargate wedding arch replacement, I think I would be ok with a Stargate wedding too.  However, combining both doesn’t sound too bad either…

Anyway, instead of having a traditional wedding arch, Ian Milward decided to build and get married in front of a Stargate.  Not only is the 12′ Stargate incredibly detailed and impressive, the story to go along with it is just as amazing.  Apparently he met his future wife while they both worked at a lumber and hardware store and they bonded over their mutual love of Stargate.  At one point they were watching the episode where Jack and Sam get married in front of the Stargate and his future wife thought that was a really cool idea so when the time came some five years later, he remembered the idea and built a Stargate to get married in front of.

I’d say the weeks of effort to build this was absolutely worth it and I wish the happy couple a lifetime of happiness!  My only question is where do you put something like this after the wedding?  Do you rent it out for other Stargate fans or perhaps put it around the front door of your house to impress your guests?  I can think of a ton of cool uses for something like this although the size would be a bit of a pain I would think.

If you are like me, than you didn’t get to go to San Diego Comic Con because you couldn’t afford the trip.  Well, if you are a Doctor Who fan, I have the next best thing to being there!  Below is the video of the entire Doctor Who Comic Con 2015 panel (minus the Season 9 trailer which you can watch right here)!  It is only 55 minutes long so if you have an hours to spare this weekend, I suggest watching it.

The panel features Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman, Michelle Gomez, and Steven Moffat and it is hosted by Chris Hardwick from The Nerdist.  Give it a watch, it is quite entertaining and it will give you some great insight into the characters of the actors.

Judging by comments in the past and the activity on our Facebook page, I’m pretty sure most all of the regular Global Geek News readers are Doctor Who fans.  So, I thought it only made sense to post the trailer for the upcoming 9th season of Doctor Who which was shown at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday!  Doctor Who returns on September 19, 2015!

What excites you most about the new trailer?  Do you have any predictions for the new season?  Let me know in the comments below!

The other day, I noticed that I am in bad need of at least a new drivers side floor mat for my car because apparently the heel of my foot managed to work a rather large whole through the middle of my current mat.  Well, rather than going and paying whatever ungodly amount the dealership wants for a new one, I think I will do something a little geekier and go with one of these sweet Star Wars automotive floor mats!

The awesome folks over at ThinkGeek are selling these cool Stormtrooper and Darth Vader automotive floor mats for $14.99-39.99 depending on whether you get a front pair ($40) or a single back back/utility floor mat ($15).  Unfortunately, you can’t mix and match the front pair unless you want to buy both sets which might not be too bad if you have two vehicles but it is a bit frustrating if you only have one.  Either way, if you are Star Wars fan, I’d call this a must have item for your vehicle!

I will probably go with the Darth Vader floor mats.  Let me know in the comments below which one you are going to order!

First of all, my apologies for not posting this yesterday when it was May 4th, but I didn’t see this until it was too late.  However, since it is Revenge of the 5th, I’m still going to post this video.  I would have posted it no matter what day because it is simply hilarious but at least it works out that it is at least day two of Star Wars Day.

This video features Tim Russ, best known as Lt. Commander Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager explaining Star Wars Day.  To say that he gets it wrong would be a huge understatement.  I won’t spoil anything but I will say that this video is so funny, it might not be a bad idea to have an extra pair of pants around because you might just pee them.  Better yet, just watch it on the toilet or in the shower so cleaning up the mess will be easier.  That would be the logical thing to do!

Stormtrooper May 4th

Star Wars Day is my favorite unofficial holiday right next to Black Friday.  However, since I am working today, I can’t say I really get to celebrate it the proper way with a Star Wars marathon.  However, I am still sporting my favorite Star Wars / Legend of Zelda crossover t-shirt which features Link dressed as Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 as Navi and says “The (Triforce symbol) is strong with this one.

How are you celebrating Star Wars day?  A movie marathon?  A Star Wars gaming binge?  Just wearing a t-shirt like me?  Let me know in the comments below!  I would love to hear how you plan to celebrate today!
