It has been a long time since I have posted a geeky cake (two months to be exact) so I thought today would be the perfect day to post one since I came across this cool Mario cake in my normal visits to my favorite nerd sites.  I’ve posted a ton of Super Mario themed cakes and even cupcakes in the past such as this mind blowing Super Mario Bros wedding cake and this sweet Mario warp pipe cake but I’m pretty sure this is the first one that has featured a giant mushroom as a house.

This cute Super Mario inspired cake was created by Cake Central Member KOs Cakes.  It features all kinds of Mario staples like Mario (obviously), a goomba, piranha plants, fire flower power ups, stars, mushrooms and more!  As for the tasty details of this cake, Mario, the chimney, clouds and plants were made out of modeling chocolate and the mushroom house is made with fondant (not so tasty).

Even though I may have a major dislike of fondant, you can’t argue with how good of looking cakes you make out the stuff.

As much as I love cookies, I will never bake them.  It is not that I don’t have the baking skill to do so as I spent a good part of my childhood baking cookies with my grandmother, it is simply that I enjoy the dough much more than the actual cookies so I eat all the dough long before the cookies get anywhere near the oven.  Well, luckily there are some people with more restraint than I have that are not only able to make it through the baking process but can make it all the way through the frosting process to be able to end up with some really cool looking cookies.

Speaking of cool looking cookies, Adda Boys Cookies made these amazing balloon shaped Dalek cookies for a young Doctor Who fan named Ana that apparently turned 5.  I’d say she had a pretty happy birthday to get cookies this awesome!  However, I will admit the whole balloon shaped thing confuses me.  Why put Daleks in balloons?  Is there something I am missing?  If so, tell me in the comments below!

The one bad part about blogging things like this is that it makes me hungry and now I am going to have to run out and buy some cookie dough.  So much for my resolution to lose weight this year!

Even as a kid, I was never really one to play with my food (not counting that one time I got a piece of ham stuck up my nose).  I have always preferred to eat my food rather than play with it but I suppose I prefer to satisfy my hunger than my creative desires.  I also hate letting my food get cold.

Well, luckily there are people out there that do enjoy playing with their food and making cool creations with them because then it gives us all something to enjoy!

Sadly, I have no idea who created this delicious looking Nintendo bento box featuring Yoshi, a Yoshi Egg, Kirby, Pikachu and more thanks to the fact that nobody cares about giving creators the credit for their work on Facebook.

Seriously, START GIVING PEOPLE CREDIT FOR THEIR WORK!!!!  I hate not being able to credit people for their work just because the idiot I found out about it from didn’t bother to share that information.  If you are one of those people, STOP IT!

Anyway, whoever made this awesome looking Nintendo bento box did a fantastic job and I would almost be afraid to eat it because I wouldn’t want it to go away.  For those who want to see more yummy Nintendo bento box action, check out this really cute Mario bento box or this other Mario bento box featuring Bullet Bill that you can make yourself!

As much as I hate to admit it, I never got into the whole Transformers craze.  I suppose it has something to do with the fact that the show was on before I was born (well, I was alive for the last few months of the show according to wikipedia).  However, I know a lot of people that are obsessed with the Transformers whether it was from the cartoon all those years ago or the more recent movies and for those people, I thought I should highlight this amazing gingerbread Optimus Prime.

I’m not sure of the girls name that created this epic Optimus Prime gingerbread sculpture but it is apparently the friend of Reddit user downvotedagain.  This girl spent a week and a half building this gingerbread Optimus Prime out of 700-800 pieces and she won a gingerbread contest with it that got her around $6500 (she is from Sweeden).  I’d say that’s not too bad for a week and a half of work!  Apparently she is going to spend the money on a trip to Bora Bora which sounds rather nice this time of year.  Congrats to her!

I am definitely impressed!

Anybody who knows the full extent of my geekiness knows that I love to build my own computers and I have a slight obsession with graphics cards.  The last couple of gaming machines I have built, I have gone for the most expensive cards available at the time which were dual-GPU cards that I think set me back at least $750.  Of course I never need that kind of performance at the time but I like to make sure my machines last me a while and that usually does the trick.  My gaming desktop which I am currently writing this on will turn 4 years old in a month and I am only now starting to plan my next build.

Anyway, speaking of graphics cards, I came across this fantastic AMD Radeon graphics card cake that I thought those of you who are hardware enthusiasts would love!

This Radeon GPU cake was created by james111333 from the Overclockers UK forums.  I’d say he did one heck of a job!  Now I can’t decide if I want to eat some cake or build a computer.  Better yet, why don’t I do both!

Of all of the Angry Birds games (which I play almost all of them daily), I think the Star Wars version is my favorite.  It doesn’t feel quite as difficult as some of the other Angry Birds games can be which is nice from a frustration point of view but I also prefer the birds special abilities compared to the other games.  The only thing that I think would make the game better is if you had the option to play as the Empire too.  I think that would make for some interesting game play.

Well, since what I think would be good for the game will probably never happen, I guess I will just salivate over this awesome Chewbacca bird cake instead.

This awesome Chewbacca bird cake was created by Mike’s Amazing Cakes and I think they did a fantastic job with it!  My only complaint is there I have no real grasp of its size because there really isn’t something I can compare it too.  I think it looks big but for all I know it could be just a few inches tall.  I wish there was something to give me a sense of size for this cake.  Big or small, it still looks awesome.
