It has been a while since I have posted a cool cake so when I saw this one, I knew I had to post it.  I have posted some pretty amazing Lord of the Rings cakes in the past including a cute Gandalf on a hobbit hole birthday cake and an amazing Dark Tower cake but I think this Gollum cake might just be my favorite.

The creator of this incredible Gollum cake is taartvanbianca.  They are obviously an extremely skilled cake decorator because the detail and coloring on Gollum as well as the rest of the cake is absolutely stunning.  The small things make this cake even more special like the Elvish writing around the edge and the dead fish that Gollum has been eating.

The Gollum in this cake looks just as creepy as the character in the movie and I don’t think that was easy to accomplish so hats off to taartvanbianca.

In the past, I have posted a ton of Super Mario Bros themed wedding cakes and they are all amazing.  However, I think this incredible Super Mario Bros wedding cake is officially my favorite and should the day come that I get married, I want one just like it!  I am blown away by the level of detail on this cake.

While I am not positive who made this incredible cake, I would guess it was created by Cakecrumbs judging by the watermark on the photo.  If not and you know who created this great cake, please let us know in the comments below so we can give them the credit they absolutely deserve!  I can’t even imagine the time involved in getting a cake to look this detailed and good but I would say it was well worth it!

Normally, this would be where I go into my anti-fondant rant because no matter how good it makes cakes look, I think it tastes like crap and is just evil, but I’m not going to rant about that today.  Instead, I am just going to appreciate this cake for its beauty and point out that I can’t remember the vines in the Mario Bros classics ending in a little loop like that which I think hurts the authentic feel of this cake.  Also, where are the Mario and Peach cake toppers?!  You can’t have a Mario wedding cake without those!

If there is one thing I don’t eat near enough of, it would be cupcakes (although my pants might disagree since I need to lose weight rather than gain it).  It is probably a good thing there are rarely ever any around because I would eat them all and you would need a forklift just to get me out of bed.

Well, speaking of those delicious baked goods known as cupcakes, I have stumbled across some rather fantastic looking Doctor Who cupcakes.

Unfortunately, I don’t know who made these cool Doctor Who cupcakes that feature the TARDIS, a Dalek, the Doctor Who logo and an infinity symbol but whoever made them did a great job.  If you know who made them, please let us know in the comments below so we can give them credit for their amazing work!

Must not go to the store and buy cupcakes…must not go to the store and buy cupcakes…must not go to the store and buy cupcakes…  Ok, I think the urge has passed.

Crap!  I just looked at the cupcakes again.  Where are my car keys?

For somebody who doesn’t even like to drink lattes, it is rather surprising how much I enjoy seeing latte art.  However, despite all of the latte art I have seen and all of the works of beverage art I have posted on here, I have never seen one that was colored until now.

A Japanese barista known as Nowtoo Sugi is the creator of this amazing and colorful Kirby latte art.

Apparently, they work with different flavors of syrup to give color to their latte art.  I’m guessing perhaps they used some sort of strawberry syrup or something to get the pink coloring of Kirby or at least the red on his cheeks.

I may not like to drink lattes but now I definitely have the urge to go play some Kirby’s Dreamland.  I think that is exactly what I am going to do tonight!

Its not very often you see mash-ups between Star Trek and Star Wars despite the number of fans that love both.  I’m not quite sure why that is because I often see people combine one of those franchises with something else like Doctor Who or even Space Invaders but I have a feeling it has to do with the Star Wars vs Star Trek mentality.  I know a lot of geeks like to have that debate but I tend to be one of those can’t we all just get along kind of people.  I think if there was less fighting and more baking, we would have more awesome Star Trek and Star Wars mash-up cookies like the ones below!

Star Trek and Star Wars fan Klickitat Street is the creator of these delicious looking cookies that combine Star Wars with the cast of Star Trek: The Original Series.  No matter which franchise you prefer (I’m a Star Trek person myself although I enjoy both depending on my mood), you can’t deny how cute and utterly awesome these cookies are!

It should be pretty obvious by now that I am somewhat obsessed with geeky cakes.  I think by now I have posted a cake from pretty much every franchise beloved by geeks from Super Mario Bros to Star Trek yet I still get excited whenever I see a new one.  In the past, I have posted a ton of great Doctor Who wedding cakes that generally featured the TARDIS, Daleks or other Whovian favorites like Weeping Angels.  Well, this Doctor Who wedding cake is a bit different in that I don’t think there is a single element of it that has ever showed up in a cake I previously posted.

The fantastic Doctor Who wedding cake in the picture below features the infamous crack, the 4th Doctors scarf, a bunch of Gallifreyan writing and even the Master’s pocket watch!

Sadly, the Facebook fan page that I found this on as well as many other Doctor Who related things I post seems to refuse to give credit to the original creators of anything they post so I have no idea who created this cake.  If you know who created it and who the happy couple was that had this cake for their wedding, let us know in the comments below so we can give them credit!
