Archives For Cool pictures

One of my favorite games and cartoons as a kid was Pokemon.  While I am still enjoying the new Pokemon X/Y, I just don’t know that it has the charm of the old games simply because there have become so many Pokemon I couldn’t possibly hope to keep track anymore.  The original Pokemon will always have a special place in my heart, especially those associated with Team Rocket (they were probably my favorite part of the cartoon).  For those that are also big Team Rocket fans, there are a couple of really cool tees on sale today only that I think you are going to love!

The Pokemon loving folks over at TeeFury are doing one of their usual Tuesday TwoFury days where they put two shirts against each other and see which one people buy the most of.  Today’s shirts (seen below) are a cool Team Rocket inspired shirt called Prepare for Trouble (designed by aflagg) and Meowthful (designed by Italiux) and they are both $11 today only!  Whether you are a Team Rocket fan or just a Meowth fan, if you love Pokemon, you will love these shirts!

Which one are you buying?  Let us know in the comments below!  I am still debating but I am leaning towards the Team Rocket shirt myself.

Having been a gamer for nearly 25 years, it is a safe assumption to say that retro video game systems and games hold a very special place in my heart.  Just last week I spent some quality time in a used video game store shopping for NES games like Dick Tracy which I loved playing as a kid but don’t have anymore.  So, when I saw the shirt below, I fell in love with it just like the shirts I already have that are similar to it.

The fantastic folks over at TeeFury are selling this Retro Gamer Heart t-shirt (designed by Drew Wise) for just $11 today only!  However, this isn’t just one of their normal daily t-shirt deals as it is special for a couple of reasons.  First, it uses red fluorescent glow ink and second, $1 for every shirt purchased is being donated to the Child’s Play Charity, one of my favorite charities.  If you haven’t heard of them, they help brighten the lives of kids in hospitals with video games.  It really is a great charity!

I know it is a little late for getting a shirt like this for Christmas for yourself or somebody you love but random presents are good too so buy one or a few anyway and help bring smiles to kids in hospitals at the same time!

Anybody who knows the full extent of my geekiness knows that I love to build my own computers and I have a slight obsession with graphics cards.  The last couple of gaming machines I have built, I have gone for the most expensive cards available at the time which were dual-GPU cards that I think set me back at least $750.  Of course I never need that kind of performance at the time but I like to make sure my machines last me a while and that usually does the trick.  My gaming desktop which I am currently writing this on will turn 4 years old in a month and I am only now starting to plan my next build.

Anyway, speaking of graphics cards, I came across this fantastic AMD Radeon graphics card cake that I thought those of you who are hardware enthusiasts would love!

This Radeon GPU cake was created by james111333 from the Overclockers UK forums.  I’d say he did one heck of a job!  Now I can’t decide if I want to eat some cake or build a computer.  Better yet, why don’t I do both!

As much as I love music, I have to admit that jukeboxes have never really been my thing.  Its not that I don’t enjoy forcing others to listen to the music I like, its just that the jukeboxes I come across never have the music I like.  Around here, the jukeboxes tend to be full of country, some classic rock and some pop.  While I enjoy some of that music, I am mainly a symphonic metal fan and of course they NEVER have any of that kind of music.  However, I still like how cool jukeboxes look and when it comes to cool looking Jukeboxes, this one takes the cake.

Whovian David Prouty created this fantastic TARDIS jukebox when his daughter requested he build something for the big Doctor Who 50th anniversary.  This TARDIS jukebox was made out of recycled UHAUL, FedEx and pizza boxes!  However, I think the most special part of this 1/3 scale TARDIS jukebox is what it can do.  It is filled with a bluetooth speaker, disco lights, sound actived LEDs and even a smoke machine!  It is controlled with a wireless remote and can get its music from an iPod or iPhone.

I wish I had the skills to build stuff like this guy!  Below is a video and a bunch of pictures of the build process.

It has been a long time since I have posted anything on a Thursday (and really too long since I have posted anything period but things should get back to normal soon), but I had to make an exception today when I saw this video of a unicycling Darth Vader Santa Clause playing flaming bagpipes.

The legendary Unipiper is back and this time he is doing his thing with flaming bagpipes!  If the name Unipiper sounds familiar, that is because I have posted several videos of this musical geek in the past including videos of him dressed as Super Mario while riding and playing Mario music, Gandalf playing Lord of the Rings music and Darth Vader playing Star Wars music.  Well, it looks like he decided to mix his Darth Vader costume with Santa Clause and then turn his bagpipes into flame throwers and I have to admit, the result is quite spectacular!

It almost makes me want to learn to ride a unicycle or play the bagpipes.  Almost.

Today is the big day!  In just a couple of hours, the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special will excite every Whovian around the planet including the one writing this post!  And of course what better way to celebrate is there than by buying a couple of fantastic Doctor Who t-shirts that just happen to be on sale today only in celebration of the big event?

The incredible Whovians over at TeeFury are selling these two fantastic Doctor Who tees for just $11 today only!  Not only that, when you order one or both of the shirts, you also get a cool 5″x7″ 3D mini-poster and 3D glasses that are also a celebration of 50 years of Doctor Who!

The design on the left is called ‘Time Will Tell’ which was designed by onebluebird and the design on the right is by bamboota and is called ’50 Years of Time Lords’.  While I think I prefer the style of the 50 years of time lords shirt, they are both awesome and I plan on ordering one of each!  Which one do you plan on ordering or will you be buying both?

Of course that leads me to the big question of the day, how will you be celebrating the wonderful world of Doctor Who today?  Let us know in the comments below!  As for me, I will be wearing my David Tennant shirt designed by Megan Lara (did you really think I would not wear one of her Doctor Who shirts today?) and I plan on spending the day watching all of the Doctor Who stuff on BBC America.  Happy 50th everybody!
