Archives For Cool pictures

Is it just me or does the holiday season also seem like engagement season?  Judging by my Facebook feed, it seems like over the last month or so, many people are taking their relationships to the next level and getting engaged.  Within the last month or so, I would say probably close to 2% of my Facebook friends have got engaged which is crazy!

Well, speaking of getting engaged, it looks like one Legend of Zelda fan went a bit above and beyond with their engagement ring box.

Reddit user Blakplague bought this amazing Legend of Zelda treasure chest engagement ring box from Etsy seller Turbo Toaster Studios.  There is no update to say whether the special person they proposed to said yes, but I think it would be rather hard to say no to something that cool!

This Legend of Zelda treasure chest ring box doesn’t play Zelda music like the last Legend of Zelda treasure chest engagement ring box I posted but with the Hylian Crest, Zelda heart and the “It’s dangerous to go alone, Marry me?” message, it has a great charm all its own.

If I ever find that special someone that I want to get married to, I hope they are also big Legend of Zelda fans so I can do something just like this!  I suppose that is putting the cart in front of the horse though as finding that special someone seems pretty much impossible and I feel more like I am destined to be alone with every passing day.

Congrats to this couple though!

As much as I hate to admit it, I never got into the whole Transformers craze.  I suppose it has something to do with the fact that the show was on before I was born (well, I was alive for the last few months of the show according to wikipedia).  However, I know a lot of people that are obsessed with the Transformers whether it was from the cartoon all those years ago or the more recent movies and for those people, I thought I should highlight this amazing gingerbread Optimus Prime.

I’m not sure of the girls name that created this epic Optimus Prime gingerbread sculpture but it is apparently the friend of Reddit user downvotedagain.  This girl spent a week and a half building this gingerbread Optimus Prime out of 700-800 pieces and she won a gingerbread contest with it that got her around $6500 (she is from Sweeden).  I’d say that’s not too bad for a week and a half of work!  Apparently she is going to spend the money on a trip to Bora Bora which sounds rather nice this time of year.  Congrats to her!

I am definitely impressed!

With all of the recent excitement around the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, it is easy to forget about all of the fun that can still be had with Nintendo’s old NES console.  Even to this day I am still buying games for it because even though it is older than I am, there is still a lot of enjoyment to be had.  Just last week I bought Dick Tracy for the NES because I remember it being a great game as a kid and I want to relive those memories.

Well, speaking of great NES memories, I think my all time favorite NES games were the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games, so when I saw this incredible TMNT NES console mod, you can imagine just how excited I got!

Ryan Fitzpatrick, aka Platinumfungi is back to his old tricks and is the creator of this incredible Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES mod.  If his name sounds familiar, it should because he is the creator of many of the NES mods I have posted in the past such as the back-lit Mega Man 2 NES mod and the back-lit Legend of Zelda NES mod.

Like his previous console mods, this one is also on sale on Ebay until December 29th, 2013.  A word of warning, you are going to need really deep pockets if you plan on bidding on it though because the auction is currently sitting at $1,275 with two days to go.  I would kill to have this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle NES but that is way out of my price range.  Ironically, Ryan says he can’t even afford his own NES mods!

If the pictures below just aren’t enough for you, you can check out the entire gallery over on Facebook.

The big day is finally here!  Today is the big Doctor Who Christmas special where Matt Smith’s Doctor will be regenerating into Peter Capaldi’s Doctor.  I suspect many of you are as excited as I am about seeing just how the special plays out.  I am especially interested to see how they address the regeneration limit since technically, Matt Smith should be the last Doctor.  It is unfortunately I can’t wear this shirt below today to celebrate the big Christmas special but at least you can order it today and wear it when you rewatch it!

The Whovians over at TeeFury are selling this fantastic 11th Hour t-shirt (designed by zerobriant) for just $11 today only!  The t-shirt isn’t just a normal t-shirt, it features photochromatic color ink to emphasize the regeneration when seen in sunlight and give it more of a real regeneration look.

If you are looking for a cool shirt to show the 11th Doctor’s regeneration, this is the one to get as it is also the only one I have seen!  Just think how fellow Whovians will react when they see you in this shirt?  I get a great response from all of my Doctor Who shirts and they don’t even have photochromatic color ink!

One of my favorite games and cartoons as a kid was Pokemon.  While I am still enjoying the new Pokemon X/Y, I just don’t know that it has the charm of the old games simply because there have become so many Pokemon I couldn’t possibly hope to keep track anymore.  The original Pokemon will always have a special place in my heart, especially those associated with Team Rocket (they were probably my favorite part of the cartoon).  For those that are also big Team Rocket fans, there are a couple of really cool tees on sale today only that I think you are going to love!

The Pokemon loving folks over at TeeFury are doing one of their usual Tuesday TwoFury days where they put two shirts against each other and see which one people buy the most of.  Today’s shirts (seen below) are a cool Team Rocket inspired shirt called Prepare for Trouble (designed by aflagg) and Meowthful (designed by Italiux) and they are both $11 today only!  Whether you are a Team Rocket fan or just a Meowth fan, if you love Pokemon, you will love these shirts!

Which one are you buying?  Let us know in the comments below!  I am still debating but I am leaning towards the Team Rocket shirt myself.

Having been a gamer for nearly 25 years, it is a safe assumption to say that retro video game systems and games hold a very special place in my heart.  Just last week I spent some quality time in a used video game store shopping for NES games like Dick Tracy which I loved playing as a kid but don’t have anymore.  So, when I saw the shirt below, I fell in love with it just like the shirts I already have that are similar to it.

The fantastic folks over at TeeFury are selling this Retro Gamer Heart t-shirt (designed by Drew Wise) for just $11 today only!  However, this isn’t just one of their normal daily t-shirt deals as it is special for a couple of reasons.  First, it uses red fluorescent glow ink and second, $1 for every shirt purchased is being donated to the Child’s Play Charity, one of my favorite charities.  If you haven’t heard of them, they help brighten the lives of kids in hospitals with video games.  It really is a great charity!

I know it is a little late for getting a shirt like this for Christmas for yourself or somebody you love but random presents are good too so buy one or a few anyway and help bring smiles to kids in hospitals at the same time!
