Archives For Cool pictures

For quite a few years now, when I have needed to take things somewhere like my laptop, I have always used a backpack that I received from Microsoft back when I was one of their Student Insiders.  Well, its just about shot these days with the straps ready to rip off at any time so I have been considering my options for a new bag to carry my laptop and other stuff in.  I have a messenger bag that I can get by with but it just isn’t very cool.  So until now, I had been leaning toward the Star Trek: The Next Generation messenger bags I posted about a while back although after today, now I am seriously considering this amazing Darth Vader briefcase!

The super geeky people over at ThinkGeek have recently come out with this amazing and officially licensed Star Wars Darth Vader briefcase that they are selling for just $99.99.  Not only does it feature Darth Vader’s helmet on the front and the Star Wars logo on the shoulder pad but it features a removable and adjustable strap as well as a handle that looks like Darth Vader’s lightsaber!  Oh, and it comes in Darth Vader colors too!

I suggest hitting the link above or in the source below to get all the dimensions and features and everything to find out if it will work for you but I suspect it will unless you have some giant laptop.

This bag is sure to make you the envy of the office at the next meeting and you can thank the Dark Side!

Death Star Waffle Maker

Jeremy Bray —  February 1, 2016 — Leave a comment

While I do love waffles, when given the choice between waffles or pancakes, I am more of a pancakes guy, especially when you start talking about the various kinds of pancakes like pumpkin pancakes or New York cheesecake pancakes.  However, I might be more tempted to eat waffles if the waffles that were offered to me happened to be these amazing Star Wars Death Star waffles!  After all, nothing says ‘eat me, I’m tasty!’ quite like the Dark Side.

For the Star Wars loving waffle eaters out there, today is your lucky day because you can make your own Death Star waffles with this Death Star waffle maker!  The awesome folks over at ThinkGeek are selling this Star Wars Death Star waffle maker for $39.99!  This waffle maker makes Death Star waffles that are 7″ in diameter and uses non-stick cooking plates so things aren’t too messy.

If you want to check out this Death Star waffle maker in action, you can give the short video below a watch but I should warn you, it WILL make you hungry for waffles.

And now I’m off to IHOP for waffles because I didn’t eat breakfast and I made the mistake of watching that video.

The closest I’ve ever come to wearing any kind of jewelry is probably my Call or Duty or Gears of War dog tags because things like rings just aren’t my thing.  I’ve seen too many ring related injuries where they happen to get caught on things and end up ripping a person’s finger off to ever feel comfortable wearing one.  However, while I will never wear any sort of ring, I do really enjoy seeing really geeky ring designs and I love posting about them even more!  Well, speaking of amazing and really geeky ring designs, I came across this beautiful wedding ring that was inspired by the Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword’s Gate of Time that I knew I just had to post when I saw it.

This amazing Legend of Zelda inspired wedding ring was created by Takayas Custom Jewelry for when a Robert and Jeanette got married. The ring features symbols from the Gate of Time, has nine diamonds, a ruby, a sapphire and an emerald which symbolizes the Triforces of power, wisdom and courage and has the Hylian Crest on both sides of the main diamond made from 14K gold.  It really is a beautiful piece of jewelry!

This ring is definitely fancier than the Legend of Zelda wedding rings I posted in the past although I think there is something to be said for simple designs.  Either way, if you want a Zelda ring idea, you can’t go wrong!  The only thing I would change is the box.  While that is definitely and elegant looking ring box, if you are going to give somebody a Legend of Zelda ring, it really should be in a Legend of Zelda floating rupee treasure chest ring box.

There are days I wish I had the skills to create something really cool out of wood but being good at building stuff with my hands is not something I’ve ever had an aptitude for.  Sure, I can usually fix things around my house that break but when it comes to actually building something from an idea, I don’t have the creativity or craftsman knowhow to build anything other than perhaps a basic shelf or something simple.  If I did possess the woodworking gene, I would love to do what this guy did and create a giant Millennium Falcon out of 3000 pieces of wood!

This incredible 6 foot long woodmen Millennium Falcon was created by wood artist and Star Wars fan Martin Creaney.  He spent a year creating this wooden Star Wars masterpiece out of 30 different types of wood.  The level of detail he achieved with this build is absolutely stunning!

As much as I would like to be able to build something like this myself, just the thought of all those splinters from working with 3000 pieces of wood makes my hands hurt so its probably a good thing I didn’t inherit the wood working gene.

While the pictures are impressive, to really see all the detail Martin put into this, make sure to check out the video below.

Later this year, Global Geek News turns the big 10 and in all that time, I don’t think I have ever posted a picture of a geeky cake that is wearing a tuxedo.  This kind of surprises me a bit considering how many wedding cakes and grooms cakes I have posted in the past.  While a small cake like this certainly isn’t as awe inspiring as say the 500lb life size Darth Vader cake I posted about a few years ago, it is still an incredible looking R2-D2 groom’s cake.  I’ve never seen R2-D2 look so handsome!

This spiffy little tux wearing R2-D2 groom’s cake was created by Utah based Salt Cake City.  As for the delicious details, R2 is covered in a marshmallow fondant and features a satin ice sugar flower which combined with the bow tie match the wedding colors.

I don’t know who the happy couple was that got married but congrats to them for not only finding love but for finding the droid they were looking for!

LEGO Batman Arkham Asylum

LEGO Arkham Asylum

I used to love playing with LEGO as a kid and I would love to get back into it but I think they are just way too expensive for little pieces of plastic.  So until I win the lottery and don’t care about how I spend my money, I will just have to enjoy the incredible things that other people create with giant amounts of LEGO bricks.  In this particular case, I’m referring to a 18,000 piece Arkham Asylum that is sure to delight any Batman fan!

Australian LEGO enthusiast and Batman lover Dayton spent around a year planning and 3 months building this impressive 18,000 piece LEGO Arkham Asylum.  It has 5 rooms and 7 cells and is lit by LED lights.  Here is a bit about what he had to say about this incredible Batman LEGO build.

I feel this was the milestone for me as a builder as this is something I have wanted to build for years now and I am so happy with how it turned out, almost everything I wanted to put into the moc was built and included, some of my favourite parts of the Moc are, Killer Croc’s Cell (See Youtube Video) the Maximum Security Wing (Underground Cells), The whole interior turned out pretty good and I really like what happened the whole roof and clock part of the building.

Make sure to check out the video below because you get to see all of the amazing detail that was put into this Batman LEGO Arkham Asylum build as well as find out a little bit more about it.
