Despite the tiny 1.44MB of storage on the floppy drives of yesteryear, I have to admit that I kind of miss those big things.  I miss the sound of a noisy floppy drive and being able to snap that little metal door back and forth when I was bored.  However, if there is one thing I don’t miss, its the number of them that you had to have for things like Windows 95.  Speaking of large numbers of floppy drives, this picture gives your a good idea of just how far we have come with making storage smaller since 1995.  Here is a picture of 8GB worth of floppy disks (looks like less to me) and one tiny 8GB Micro-SD card today.  Wow.

When it comes to gaming on my mobile device (mainly on my iPod Touch since my Motorola i1 Android phone is garbage to put it nicely), I have never thought to myself that it would be a better experience if I could put the mobile device on a gun and play my games.  However, thinking about it, it seems like an interesting idea!  Well, that is exactly what the folks over at Metal Compass have done with this Xappr Gun (which works on Apple, Android and Windows phones) and thanks to deniath, you can get your hands on one cheaper than anywhere else!  Although it is only available for pre-order at this time, it retails for $34.99 but with deniath, you have the chance to get it for just $24.99 (shipping is $15 since it is coming from overseas)!  Similar to sites like Groupon, for this deal to happen, at least 50 people have to use Deniath to pre-order this interesting little accessory. This private pre-sale begins March 12th so you have a couple days to save up your pocket change to pre-order the Xapper (pictured below)!

However, to take advantage of this deal or any other deal that they offer, you must be a member of their exclusive site!  Becoming a member of Deniath is free, but if you want to skip the line and get in now so you can take advantage of this Xappr deal and others, send an email to community@deniath.com with Global Geek News in the subject.  This invite offer only lasts until March 16th, so fire up your e-mail client before its too late!

One last thing, be careful traveling with this as I would seriously doubt that the TSA goons will have any idea what this is and will suspect it to be an actual gun.

Although I have a tremendous appreciation for music, I can’t say I have any musical talent.  I could peck out a couple songs on the piano when I was a kid like Jingle Bells, but that was about the extent of my musical career.  However, if I ever decided to try my hand at becoming a real musician, I would probably want to use a custom instrument like this guitar that looks like the TARDIS from Doctor Who.  It may not be as intricate as the Millennium Falcon guitars I have posted in the past (like this one or this one) but I don’t think I would want anything as fancy as those.

When it comes to what I wear on my head, I am a baseball cap person and always have been  (currently I am wearing the Legend of Zelda Hylian Crest Hat).  They may not be as warm as hats like this one, but since my eyes are so sensitive to light, I need something that can help keep the sun off of my face.  However, there are those out there that don’t have a light sensitivity (lucky them!) and like to sport their love of Star Wars.  One such person is sporting this awesome knit R2-D2 beanie hat as Etsy seller EricaKnit sold this awesome wool and alpaca hat earlier this year.  Too bad they aren’t selling more!

It seems the Batman loving foodies are coming out of the woodwork this week.  First, it was the cup of Batman black bean soup, and now we have this cute Batman cake!  This isn’t the most detailed cake I have posted before but there is a certain cuteness factor of it that I cannot deny.  However, I do kind of wish that Batman’s head looked a bit more intimidating.  Either way, it looks cool!  Cake Central Member aldoska is the person behind this awesome looking Batman cake but sadly, they didn’t send me a piece.

Snorlax Loves Cake [pic]

I know that the Snorlax Pokemon is known for sleeping, but I didn’t realize it was known for its love of cake too!  The way this cake is made almost makes it look like it is fake but surely no cake that prominently features a happy Snorlax can be fake.  Can it?  Fake or not, it looks awesome although since the rest of the cake has nothing to do with Pokemon, Snorlax seems a bit out of place.  However, considering the tendency of Snorlax to just sleep wherever, it seems kind of fitting.  If anybody knows who make this cake, let us know in the comments so we can give them credit!
