I’m not exactly sure where I have put them, but like most geeks, I still have a box filled with floppy disks laying around somewhere.  Well, Instructables user Jetpack5 decided to give some of those old floppies some new life, as Star Wars ships!

You can find the how-to guide for turning old floppies (and some rubber bands) into Star Wars ships over at Instructables which shows you how to make the Death Star, Millennium Falcon and an X-Wing fighter.  For those that have a lot of floppies laying around, I suspect you could probably make a few bucks by making a bunch of these and putting them on Etsy.

I’ve largely broken my addiction to Angry Birds although I still play the occasional game however I just can’t seem to get enough Angry Birds themed food.  I’ve posted a bunch of Angry Birds cakes in the past including a playable Angry Birds cake but I am pretty sure this is the first Angry Birds cupcake tower I have ever posted (I can’t be sure as I really don’t remember all of the near 2000 posts I have written on GGN).

This spectacular looking Angry Birds cupcake tower was created by Jodi Miller.  If I ever need some cupcakes made, I know who to go to because this are some of the most amazingly detailed cupcakes I have ever seen!

Back in November, I posted an old NES console that had been turned into a guitar completely expecting to never see anything like that again.  Well, I am very happy to be wrong!

Apparently, a really cool computer engineer by the name of Jeri Ellsworth took an old Commodore 64 and turned it into an electric bass guitar.  She was seen skating around at Maker Faire in California (which took place this past weekend) while wearing this awesome Commodore 64 bass.  Of all the custom guitars I have posted on here, this is one of my favorites!  Awesome job Jeri!

I’ve only tried wall climbing like twice and while I enjoyed it, I just don’t have the long arms and legs necessary to get very high.  At best, I can usually get about half way up a wall before my short arms and legs start working against me.  However, of the climbing walls that I have tried, none have ever had awesome holds like this!

Well, a company called Hangfast Adventure Structures apparently makes custom climbing wall holds for those with walls and they even make Star Wars themed holds.  In the case of the picture below, it is an awesome Death Star looking hold although they also have an R2-D2 hold and even a Millennium Falcon hold!  It is almost enough to make you want to install a climbing wall in your yard!

It is really common to see Star Wars themed cakes that were based on the original trilogy (for example, the LEGO Stromtrooper cake I posted right before this post), but it seems like you almost never see any cakes from the newer Star Wars movies.  While I can certainly understand why nobody would want a Jar Jar Binks cake, there are certainly other cake worthy things from the newer movies.  For example, Darth Maul!

This amazing looking Darth Maul cake was created by Karren’s Specialty Cakes and Confections.  As just Darth Maul’s head, this would be an awesome cake but the inclusion of the hood is just icing on the cake!

I’ve never tried any of the LEGO video games whether they are Star Wars or something else.  However, I can’t seem to get enough of the awesome LEGO video game inspired stuff that people create.  In this case, a LEGO Stormtrooper cake!

This awesome LEGO Star Wars inspired Stormtrooper cake was created by Dazey Cakes.  For those that are interested in the yummy details, the arms are made of Rice Krispies Treats and legs and body are made of cake.  Of course the entire thing is covered in fondant which I suspect was the only non-yummy part of the cake.  Fondant makes for a great looking cake but I have never had any fondant that I would call delicious.
