Beautiful New Astrophoto – The Ring Nebula!

Messier 57 - The Ring Nebula

With my recent and rare night out in my observatory, I decided to spend some time shooting some old favorites that I knew are easy to get so I could get as many photos as possible since I don’t get out in the observatory much these days.  Hopefully things will get better soon as far as smoke from fires and clouds so that I might have a chance at getting out although that doesn’t solve my neighbors outdoor lights that vex me.  Anyway, before I go on a light pollution rant, I should get to the point of this post and that is my new picture of Messier 57 (M57), the Ring Nebula!

M57, The Ring Nebula is by far my favorite nebula to shoot.  It might not be as big and pretty as say the Orion Nebula but it is bright, colorful and really easy to shoot!  I always like seeing how much detail I can get when I shoot it and see how clear I can get the star in the center.

I don’t recall my exact shot specifications but I assume I did my usual 45 second exposures on it and got a couple dozen of them to stack and process into this final image.  And since I always get questions about my telescope rig that I took this with, you can find the up-to-date list of all of my telescope hardware over on my telescope setup for astrophotography page.  Its not the greatest but good enough for my skills!

I’ve got several more astrophotos to post so stay tuned!

Share this with all of your space loving friends!  Also, if you enjoy seeing really awesome space pictures, I’d suggest following me on Twitter (@pcnerd37) because I’m always retweeting stuff from my fellow amateur astrophotographers.  There is a big community of us on there and we love to share each others work!  This hobby has a great community around it!
