I know that the speedrunner community is huge just based on my casual browsing of Twitch but I can’t say I really understand it. I generally prefer to take my time and thoroughly enjoy games the way they were intended to be played and then I usually move on to multiplayer if there is any. There aren’t many games I’d care to play over and over again with the hope of shaving time off of my previous run just for bragging rights. However, I do admire the amount of work that goes into something like this exploit where the Legend of Zelda is beat in under 3 minutes! The amount of knowledge about the tiniest details of how the game works just to be able to pull this off kind of blows my mind!
A hacker and Zelda fan that goes by the name Sockfolder discovered and wrote the code for this glitch where the Legend of Zelda is beat in under 3 minutes. You too can potentially execute this glitch that will allow you to beat beat the classic Legend of Zelda in under 3 minutes but you have to meet some requirements first. In order to be able to execute this glitch where the Legend of Zelda is beat in under 3 minutes, you must own a copy of the Legend of Zelda version 1.1 of the Famicom version of the game. This exploit won’t work with the NES so don’t waste your time trying.
For an incredibly thorough explanation and demonstration of this glitch where Legend of Zelda is beat in under 3 minutes, check out the video below. Just a heads up, if you don’t have a background in programming, a number of the concepts and general idea of what is happening to execute the glitch is probably going to be a bit over your head.
