For as long as I can remember, I have had a great interest in watching Rube Goldberg machines. While I love them for being fundamentally silly and fun to watch, what has always amazed me the most is the time and effort that goes into making one. From the planning to the testing to the accidental screw ups that make you reset everything because you bumped something and made the rest of the machine go off, it never ceases to amaze me how much work gets put into a good Rube Goldberg machine.
Speaking of Rube Goldberg machines, while browsing Reddit, I came across a video from YouTube user Stabyourself.net who created this incredible one in the sandbox physics game Garry’s Mod. This has to be the most elaborate and complex way I have ever seen to get a can of pop from a pop machine. Sadly there was no mention of how long this took to make to get an idea for how much work went into this but having played with Dominoes as a kid and seeing as that is a big element here, I can imagine it took quite a while and likely went off by accent more than a few times.
I can’t say I have ever tried Garry’s Mod but after seeing this, I have a feeling I will probably pick the game up the next time it shows up on a Steam sale. Do you play it and if so, what is the craziest thing you have seen someone create in the game?
If you have created any cool things in Garry’s Mod like this Rube Goldberg machine, let me know in the comments below because I want to see it!
