Closet Geek Girls [comic]

Although I have come to know many geeky girls (largely thanks to this site), I have often wondered if there are a lot more out there that hide their geeky side from guys.  This comic sums up my suspicions quite nicely although I don’t understand why you would want to hide something as awesome as being a geek.  Everybody should embrace their inner geek and let the world know who they really are instead of who they pretend to be.  Be yourself!

Pass this along to any geeks you know.  Like us on Facebook too!

It’s not “Awesome” to be a “geek”, it’s okay. I mean, liking something shouldn’t be your identity. That’s as two-dimensional as a triangle. It’s neither something to be proud of nor something to be ashamed of. But making it your whole identity is dumber than a sack of bricks.

Yes, you might like something, but that doesn’t mean you have to behave as a stereotype. God, people who self-label “geek” are incredibly annoying. “OH YES I’M TOTALLY A GEEK I LOVE DOCTOR WHO! HAHAHA” Yes, we get it, now let’s go back to talking about what we were talking about.

But no, people will say “OH YES THIS IS SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF!”. No, it’s not. Liking something doesn’t give you a medal of honor or a purple heart. You didn’t do anything for society beyond consuming a certain subset of pop culture. That’s not really something to be proud of.
